For me, i have always loved pasta and always will, it is a innovative tool and a great piece of technology that has been created in the culinary industry.
What is the Pasta Machine? What's it's History?
The Pasta Machine can date back to the 1700's where in Thomas Jefferson's showed evidence of the pasta machine, he even built his own, but it wasn't until the 1800's that pasta machines really began its growth.
Why was it important?
I was a revolutionary design because it allowed us to create pasta with ease, pasta like ravioli and tortellini which takes ages to make can be made in matter of minutes, no more uneven dough, no more using of feet. It increase the popularity of pasta, being able to make around 8kg of pasta a hour allowed the cost to decrease and increased customer demand.
My Thoughts?
The first time i made pasta was actually in my first semester of culinary management, it was a pappardelle pasta with a basil pesto, it was the best pasta i ever had because it was fresh and I was the one who made it. I tried making the pasta at home the following day, but i did not have a pasta machine and boy did it take long. 20 minutes into the roll i gave up because it was too hard to make the dough thin enough for the pasta. I have not yet purchased a pasta machine, but i will probably invest in one in the near future.
